About Us

Sense of Wonder Forest School was founded in summer 2022. Our mission is to create a safe environment where children can play freely in nature, exercise their curiosity, imagination and creativity and connect with themselves, others and nature.

01

We believe that playing in nature is fundamental to children’s healthy growth. Through Forest School sessions, the children will gain opportunities to develop their motor skills, fine motor skills, resilience, scientific knowledge, literacy, emotional intelligence and self belief.

02

We value the individuality of each child, and believe that nature provides space for everyone. We give each child a space where he/she can explore their interests, and encourage them to learn by trial and error. We give assistance only when they need it.

03

We respect the natural environment and other living forms, and understand the complexity of their interrelations. Nature is a source of so much wisdom which the children can carry with them into their future. We share this with the children through play and the children internalise it through their senses.

04

We also bring Celtic cultures into our Forest School and learn the way the people connected to this land and respected the environment surrounding them. We will share the folklores and stories of Irish native animals and plants and will celebrate the seasonal festivals with the children. We may also introduce diffirent cultures from other parts of the world and how they relate to nature.

05

We learn everyday from children and from nature. We are often surprised by children's imagination and the way they interact with nature, their capacity to create fun, their unique personalities, and how they strive to grow. We love to encounter the moments when a child’s eyes shine with excitement and deep learning.

06

Our hope is to be part of the children’s lives and empower them to take responsibility for their own environment and the planet earth.

Our Team

We are trained and training Forest School facilitators, who are sharing our values. We are also always looking for people with all levels of experience to join our team.

“If I had influence with the good fairy who is supposed to preside over the christening of all children, I should ask that her gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life, as an unfailing antidote against the boredom and disenchantments of later years, the sterile preoccupation with things that are artificial, the alienation from the sources of our strength. "

Rachel Carson, 1956, pp. 44
